The Coffee Yard (TCY) works closely with The Coffee Gardens to bring the coffees of Norman Mukuru to market, building on a long-standing relationship rooted in trust, knowledge-sharing and traceability. Now in its second year, this partnership supports Norman and his team in refining and exporting coffees that reflect both experience and a deep understanding of what roasters are looking for.

Based in the foothills of Mount Elgon in Eastern Uganda, TCY sources ripe coffee cherries from smallholder farmers across Sironko, Mbale, Bulambuli and Kapchorwa. With nearly two decades of experience, Norman has developed a meticulous approach to processing, particularly washed coffees, focusing on clarity, balance and clean expression in the cup.

At elevations of 2000–2200 metres, Nyasaland, SL14 and SL28 varietals thrive, benefiting from cool temperatures and fertile soils. The washed process enhances structure and precision, resulting in a cup that is both composed and expressive.

The result is a beautifully balanced coffee — opening with bright lemon, carried through by a smooth black tea body that adds depth and subtle umami, before finishing on a soft, rounded caramel sweetness.
