Kirambo washing station sits on a hillside above Lake Kivu in Rwanda’s Nyamasheke District, collecting cherries from smallholder farmers across the surrounding region. This part of Western Rwanda is known for its rolling hills, consistent rainfall and volcanic soils — ideal conditions for producing clean, expressive coffees.

After years of inconsistent operation, the station was revitalised in 2017 under RTC, bringing structure, training and long-term support to the farmers delivering cherry. This shift has enabled Kirambo to focus on quality and consistency, producing coffees that showcase the clarity and balance Rwanda is known for.

Cherries are carefully sorted on arrival before being washed and dried slowly on raised African beds. This meticulous process enhances structure and definition in the cup.

The result is a smooth, silky coffee built around layered red fruit — opening with bright raspberry, moving into deeper blackberry, and rounded out by a soft, creamy sweetness reminiscent of red velvet.
